Greetings from Longboat Key

Actually, I am at home now, but I have been down south and will be again at the end of the week (99% sure)

We go down there every year so having an interruped stay doesn't kill me (the 5 months off at the beginning of the year didn't hurt either). Puzzles (jigsaw and logic), floating, sailing (sometimes paddling, on the catamaran), and the like kept me 'busy'. We have wireless web access but it is unsecured, so I am limited posting via lynx, ssh'd to my home computer. Translation: I will post at home. I was hoping the building next door, would have a few wireless networks named default or netgear, but unfortunately it did not (or the connection was so weak it would disconnect me as soon as I connected)

I tore through Angels and Demons (I certainly do pave my own trail) which was a lot of fun, even if it requires more suspension (no pun intended for those that have read it) of disbelief than The Da Vinci Code. I learned what the word Ambigram* means and a little about a few places that I saw in Rome. I kind of wish I had read this before my visit, because I walked past some interesting places with little more than a "hey that is cool, but where is the pantheon" appreciation.

Each morning I have been trying to walk a couple of miles to get me back into some sort of exercise routine. One morning, I stumbled on a dead sea turtle. The Mote Marine Aquarium was taking it in and, I believe, marking off the new nests from the night before. After seeing the size of that turtle, I think they are probably finding new nests by footprints rather than looking for disrupted sand as I had originally thought.

I headed into the office to check email, respond to a few requests etc. I had a mental fart on the way back and ended up taking the CC to Alt 19 before eventually picking up 275. On a positive note, there is an old fashioned Mc Donalds in Seminole that looks pretty cool.

I was thinking. The past 365 days have been some of the most active of my life. Since leaving Longboat Key last year, I have:

1.) Gone to Washington DC
2.) Graduated from college
3.) Traveled to Europe
3a.) Traveled to New York City
4.) Returned to Europe
5.) Started my first job

Man Clemens is right after hitting country after country, blogging about sleepy old Longboat seems anticlimatic. Oh well, it saves me from an irrelevant August post :-P Next month you may look forward to an Indiana Jones style map of my trip(s)... oooh.

* If you are interested, an Ambigram can be read from another perspective; in Angels and Demons it is upside down.
